Darren Hayes: The Time Machine Tour DVD Posted on July 25 2008 by the Music News Desk
After touring non stop for twelve months, pop superstar Darren Hayes continues to do what he does best… dazzle an audience with an impressive stage set and presence which has all been captured on to a remarkable DVD.
The Brisbane-born singer captured the footage where it all began for him – his hometown of Brisbane, Australia, on the final night of his world tour to a sold out crowd. Performing hits from his most recent double-album ‘This Delecate Thing Weve Made’, Hayes continues to deliver a stage spectacle that we’ve come to know from the former Savage Garden front man with the backdrop – an everchanging set designed by legendary U2 and Rolling Stones designer, Willie Williams and a 24 foot animatronic steel and neon origami bird – the prominent feature on his album.
The Time Machine Tour does exactly what it’s name suggests – a refelection of Hayes’ past – a journey from his child hood memories, before moving through the Savage Garden days before ending into his present, and it’s quite clear that Hayes isn’t the same person he was ten years ago when Australia was first introduced to him.
Performing tracks like ‘On The Verge Of Something Wonderful’ and ‘Who Would Have Thought’ Hayes’ mixes it up a little with tracks dated back to his first solo record ‘Insatiable’ before belting out the ever-popular tracks ‘The Best Thing’, ‘Affirmation’ and a re-worked electronica version of ‘I Want You’.
Darren Hayes is clearly a show man in his own right, with every performance, he continues to deliver his trademark energetic performance... complete with a six-piece band, an impressive lighting show and an array of some of the best pop/rock/electronic songs ever released, this DVD is a must have! |
